Description
After Emilio Estevez’s character in The Mighty Ducks, coach Gordon Bombay, led the Pee-Wee hockey team to a state championship over their archrivals, Bombay returns to Minneapolis in D2: The Mighty Ducks following an injury-shortened minor league hockey career. Upon his return, he was offered the United States coaching for the Goodwill Games in Los Angeles, and he would recruit his former players to come join the squad. Bombay would face scrutiny following the team’s 12-1 loss to Iceland and his hard-nosed coaching tactics on the kids. The coach would need a reminder about his love for the game from his brother, which ignited a fire that resulted in the team rallying around him. The team would get all the way to the championship game, but it was against the same Iceland team that destroyed them before. Bombay’s fiery speech to the team in the locker room sparked a comeback from the Ducks, resulting in an epic win for the underdogs over Iceland.
